Penn State Men’s Basketball Hosting Open Practice, Shootaround For Students

With many of Penn State’s fall sports teams heading into the final stretch of their respective schedules and the return of the NBA season, the itch for college basketball is growing stronger each day.

However, Penn State’s men’s basketball program and its student section, the Legion of Blue, have an answer to that pain. Monday’s practice at the Bryce Jordan Center will be open for students to attend. In addition to this sneak peek at the team, there will be an on-court shootaround following the conclusion of practice.

“I look forward to finally seeing this team in action in person,” Legion of Blue President Nick Malizia said. “They developed a lot over the summer, and I’m excited to see how much stronger and faster the team is now compared to last year.”

Malizia emphasized the importance of Coach Pat Chambers’s relationship with the Legion of Blue to the organization’s development.

“We have an awesome relationship with Coach Chambers, he’s been instrumental in our development as a student section over the last couple of years,” Malizia said. “You should expect to see a fired-up Coach Chambers at practice.”

The event begins at 4:30 p.m. Students should enter through the Founder’s Entrance between Gates B and C of the Bryce Jordan Center. Refreshmentss will also be available to those in attendance.

“From Legion of Blue, students should expect a loud and exciting atmosphere this season,” Malizia said. “We expect this to be the most exciting season of basketball yet.”

The Nittany Lions visit Lafayette at 1 p.m. Saturday for their first exhibition of the season. The following day, the Blue and White host Bloomsburg in the BJC at noon on BTN.

Students can buy season tickets until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. You can find information on how to get your tickets on the Legion of Blue and Penn State Athletics websites.
