We Want To Hear Your Best Memories From Ken’s Best Wurst

Ken Baumgarter announced Sunday he’s hanging up his tongs for good at Ken’s Best Wurst due to decreasing civility among his customers.

Ken foreshadowed the closing of his famous hot dog truck on Thursday, and he made the tragic news public on Sunday afternoon. Fans of the best wiener in town were stunned by the departure of the late-night drunk food favorite.

All we can do now is reflect on a State College legend. And there’s certainly a lot to think about, because Ken has seen it all from his vantage point near the Den.

From providing a $1 discount if you use his word of the day correctly in a sentence to running to his car for a band-aid when someone was bleeding, we all have a good Ken story. To honor Ken like he truly deserves, we want to hear yours!

Mikey Mandarino

In the most upsetting turn of events, Mikey graduated from Penn State with a digital & print journalism degree in the spring of 2020. He covered Penn State football and served as an editor for Onward State from 2018 until his graduation. Mikey is from Bedminster, New Jersey, so naturally, he spends lots of time yelling about all the best things his home state has to offer. Mikey also loves to play golf, but he sucks at it because golf is really hard.
