Penn State Field Hockey Advances To Elite Eight, Beats Delaware 2-1
Penn State field hockey punched its ticket to the NCAA quarterfinals Saturday thanks to a thrilling 2-1 win over Delaware in overtime.
Gini Bramley and Moira Putsch scored the lone goals for the Nittany Lions, as Char Morett-Curtiss’ squad advanced to Sunday’s Elite Eight against UConn.
How It Happened
Bramley, a junior midfielder, put Penn State on the board first late in the 37th minute, beating Blue Hens goalkeeper Emmeline Oltmans for her 10th goal of the season. Delaware responded in the 65th as Greta Nauck scored her team-high 25th goal of the year to make it 1-1.
Penn State controlled the match in terms of shots and corners with a 17-11 and 5-1 advantage in both categories, respectively. In a defensive battle, Putsch finally broke through to give the Nittany Lions the victory six minutes and change into overtime.

The Nittany Lions (17-4) will face No. 1 seed UConn Sunday at 2 p.m. in Storrs, Conn., for a trip to the Final Four.
