Penn State Wrestling Adds Top Recruit Aaron Brooks To 2018 Class

Cael Sanderson picked up another big-time talent on Thursday night, as FloWrestling’s No. 14 pound-for-pound wrestler Aaron Brooks committed to Penn State.

Brooks, a senior at North Hagerstown High School in Maryland, burst onto the scene with his gold medal-finish at the Cadet World Championships. He projects to wrestle at either the 174 or 184 lbs.

Brooks’s commitment is another in a long line of big names for the 2018 Nittany Lions recruiting class. At the moment, seven other Penn State commits are ranked among the top ten in their respective weight class rankings by Flo.

Although Brooks is technically a member of next year’s recruiting class, the Maryland native told Flo back in August that he would likely spend the 2018-19 year at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. If he does sit out that year, he would enter Penn State with a clearer path to the mat, with current 184-pounder Bo Nickal graduating next year and current 174-pounder Mark Hall graduating either during Brooks’ freshman or redshirt season.

Brooks was a big get for the Nittany Lions after the No. 2 overall prospect in the class, Travis Wittlake, flipped to Oklahoma State. The two wrestle actually at the same weight, and Wittlake defeated Brooks in the Cadet World trials.
