Overheard On Twitter: Penn State Hoops Upsets No. 8 Ohio State

Penn State hoops pulled off what just may be the most important win of the Pat Chambers era. And they did it in style. The Nittany Lions blew out the visiting Buckeyes to the tune of 79-56. Tony Carr dropped 30 points in front of a white out crowd.

As you can imagine, Twitter blew up after the shocking upset win. The Nittany Lions were somehow the favorites going into the matchup, but certainly no one saw a win of this magnitude coming.

Penn State fans were ready for the showdown, providing one of the best atmospheres in the BJC since Penn State upset Wisconsin in 2011 on its way to the Big Dance.

It didn’t take too long before Penn State started to pull away. In fact, Tony Carr, the star of the night, was outscoring Ohio State by himself at one point.

James Franklin was even in attendance on Thursday night. He was clearly pumped about beating the Buckeyes, which is really nothing new.

James Franklin wasn’t the only big name on hand to catch the game. Flavor Flav – Public Enemy member, TV personality, and relative of Shep Garner – was in State College to catch No. 33 take on Big Ten rival Ohio State. A few days ago, he showed Garner some on Twitter.

Flavor Flav even showed the fans some of his best moves.

With their second win over Ohio State this season, it looks as though the Nittany Lions are getting some love from experts around the country. One such expert is Jon Rothstein from CBS, who has nothing but positive things to say about this squad.

Also, you can probably expect the #FirePatChambers bots to be pretty quiet after this big win. Even if they don’t silence themselves, others are beginning to believe in the abilities of this team.

For other experts, this feels more like an alternate reality than real life.

If that all wasn’t enough, the legendary Dickie V took notice of Tony Carr’s performance. With an endorsement like that, Tony Carr is really going places.

This Twitter account even declared that the Penn State basketball season was no longer canceled. Well, that’s a good thing!

Super Bowl champ Stefen Wisniewski was in the house for the big win on Thursday night. He clearly brought some of that winning magic with him, as Penn State made easy work of the Buckeyes. He had a pretty nice view of the action, too.

Where does Tony Carr believe the team’s confidence comes from. Why, of course, Philadelphia. Go Birds!

What a night in Happy Valley.
