3AM Tokyo Rocks The BJC With Diverse Set

3AM Tokyo took to the BJC stage (though admittedly, the group did not actually perform at 3 a.m.) to hype up the crowd on Friday night. The group put forth a fast-moving set, quickly alternating between EDM, pop, rock, and rap.

The group started out with a big EDM mashup that featured excerpts from “Levels” by Acivii and “Runaway” by Gallants, before launching into “Fire Water Burn” by the Bloodhound Gang. The group kept the high energy up, featuring three drummers who walked around the stage with the Nittany Lion wearing white masks. The battling drum solos then morphed into “Delirious” by Chris Lake, Steve Aoki, and Tujamo.

After a series of EDM songs, 3AM Tokyo changed pace and switched to a cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The cover then faded into a Penn State favorite: “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, which echoed throughout the BJC.

The band then announced that it was going to do a throwback and promply began to play “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” by Fall Out Boy. Clearly a crowd favorite, the BJC sang the words back to 3AM Tokyo perfectly. The band then slowed things down by playing “Use Somebody” by the Kings Of Leon.

3AM Tokyo then switched pace and switched to a cover of “Finesse” by Bruno Mars. The group then payed homage to the 2018 Superbowl Halftime Show with a Justin Timberlake mashup that featured “SexyBack,” “My Love,” “LoveStoned/I Think She Knows,” “Rock Your Body,” and “What Goes Around…Comes Around.”

After their extensive Justin Timberlake tribute, 3AM Tokyo launched into “Time Of Our Lives” by Ne-Yo and Pitbull. The return to an EDM remix of a popular song energized the BJC and had all the org letters bouncing in unison. Keeping with the upbeat theme, the band then danced to “Lunatic” by Mercer & DJ Snake followed by “Good Feelin” by Dyro.

After its EDM mashup, the group transitioned to “Rolex” by Ayo & Teo followed by “Broccoli” by D.R.A.M. and “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd. 3AM Tokyo kept with the rap theme and played “XO TOUR Llif3” by Lil Uzi Vert, “Juju On That Beat” by Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall, “HUMBLE.” by Kendrick Lamar, “Bad and Boujee” by Migos, “Congratulations” by Post Malone, and “Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B.
