SouthPaw Pumps Up The BJC Crowd Early Saturday Morning

SouthPaw took to the BJC stage early Saturday morning to give dancers and spectators alike a much-needed boost. The band performed covers of popular rock songs to liven up the THON crowd.

SouthPaw started out the set strong with “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” by Fall Out Boy to wake the BJC up. From there, they transitioned into one of the greatest songs ever written, “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers. Next, SouthPaw belted out “1985” by Bowling For Soup while several band members managed to play the song while laying flat on their backs (impressive!)

SouthPaw took a break from the covers to perform a fast-paced original song. The band then launched into “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World followed by “Dirty Little Secret” by The All-American Rejects. Following some technical difficulties, SouthPaw delivered a rendition of “Dear Maria, Count Me In” by All Time Low.

The band slowed it down for a little with a cover of “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” by Green Day and “I Miss You” by blink-182. After assuring the BJC, “That’s all the slow stuff,” SouthPaw launched into “In Too Deep” by Sum 41 and “Face Down” by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

After another original song, the band closed out its set with a series of fast-paced jams, including “First Date” by blink-182, “The Anthem” by Good Charlotte, and “Ocean Avenue” by Yellowcard. SouthPaw left the BJC in high spirits after rocking out to a slew of classic party jams.
