Pegula, Amoros Confirmed As Penn State Trustees

The Pennsylvania State Senate confirmed two governor-appointed members to Penn State’s Board of Trustees last week. Abe Amoros and Terry Pegula, graduates of the classes of 1990 and 1973, respectively, were confirmed by the state senate after being appointed by Governor Tom Wolf.

Pegula received a bachelor of science degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering in 1973. He’s best known as the owner of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and NFL’s Buffalo Bills, but has made significant contributions to his alma mater. You might recognize him as the namesake of our hockey arena.

Pegula was integral in bringing Division I ice hockey programs back to Penn State. He donated $102 million to the university, which funded the construction of Pegula Ice Arena and creation of Penn State’s men’s and women’s hockey teams ahead of the 2012-13 season.

The multi-billionaire holds business interests in natural gas development, real estate, and entertainment on top of his role as owner of the Bills and Sabres.

Amoros, the Pennsylvania legislative director at the Laborers’ International Union of North America, received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Penn State and earned a master’s degree in governmental administration from UPenn. He’s held his current position since 2010 and was previously the director of communications for Pennsylvania Democrats.
