The Best Penn State Twitter Accounts To Follow

Penn State has one of the largest university communities in the world. Unsurprisingly, the Nittany Lion Empire spills over to Twitter, where Penn State-related content abounds.

Whether they serve an actual purpose and provide helpful information or are just for fun, Penn State Twitter accounts bring a taste of Happy Valley to your feed. Here are a few of our favorites.

Campus Weather Service (@PSUWeather)

Campus Weather Service provides useful forecasts and weather warnings specifically for the University Park/State College area. The best part? The account shares the work of more than 100 student meteorologists. This account is especially helpful for sending severe weather alerts and reminding you to bring an umbrella to class or pack an extra jacket.

Penn State Dining (@PennStateDining)

Although it can’t send you food through Twitter (yet), Penn State Dining often posts about new menu items as well as updates to dining hall hours. If you’re lucky enough, you could even win a free meal by retweeting the account on Meal Pass Monday.

Joe Patoasterno (@PSUtoaster)

Although the account claims to be merely toast with the logo, you can also expect endless hot takes, football jokes, and bread-related puns, especially on game days.

It’s time to get this bread and to follow this account.

Old Main Bell (@OldMainBell)

This account is exactly what it sounds like. Old Main Bell literally rings on the hour in tweet form…and that’s it.

Feel free to use this account as a slightly-inefficient but somewhat-satisfying timekeeper. Or as a loose reminder of what it sounds to walk on campus — although the actual bell rings every 15 minutes.

Cody Heaton (@tweetinheeton)

Even though UPUA president Cody Heaton misspelled his own name in his Twitter handle, you can always tweet at him with your questions and concerns. If UPUA truly supports every student, surely they would be in favor of installing 2-ply toilet paper across campus…

Nihilist Arby’s Penn State Football Fan (@nihilist_arbys)

I know, I know. Nihilist Arby’s is NOT a Penn State-related account. However, it can easily be adapted to be one. Replace every “Eat Arby’s” with “watch Penn State Football,” and each tweet will perfectly describe how we in Happy Valley feel after each heartbreaking loss. Try it at home!
