Penn State Community Gathers To Remember Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting Victims

The Penn State community held a candlelight vigil Monday night to honor the 11 lives lost in the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. It was emotional to say the least, the crowd grieving the senseless loss of life that occurred Saturday.

Speakers at the vigil included Penn State President Eric Barron, Jewish students who are members of the Tree of Life synagogue where the attack occurred, and various Jewish leaders in the community.

The mood was somber gathering around the steps of Old Main as the crowd heard from Penn State President Eric Barron and various Jewish community leaders.
The outpouring of emotion and support from Penn Staters in this time of need is what characterizes a community truly coming together.
The theme that was constant throughout the night was a sense of optimism and strength in the face of this tragedy.
The uplifting power of togetherness will carry the community through this trying time.
Community members from all walks of life showed their support with a sea of candles.
The crowd also heard from Jewish students from Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood who are members of the Tree of Life Synagogue where the attack occurred.
Speakers emphasized the darkness of this time must be cast into the light.
