Things To Do This Weekend Besides Blue-White

Not interested in the Blue-White game festivities this weekend? Perhaps you’re not really a football fan, or maybe you don’t like the crowds and would rather enjoy some peace and quiet.

While the annual springtime scrimmage may seem like the only thing to do this weekend, there’s a handful of other events going on around campus and downtown too.

Penn State Women’s Tennis vs. Indiana-Bloomington

A women’s tennis match is the perfect spring sport to watch this weekend, especially if the weather holds up. If the Nittany Lions can come out with a win in each of their matches this weekend, they can pull their in-conference record above .500.

Their first match is against Indiana-Bloomington on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and the second is against Purdue at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Sarni Tennis Center.

Penn State Baseball vs. Nebraska

Baseball season is in full swing in Happy Valley, and the weather for it is finally perfect. The Diamond Lions will aim to climb from second-to-last place in the Big Ten standings this weekend when they host the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The three-game series spans throughout the weekend. The first game is 6:30 p.m. Friday, the second at 6 p.m. Saturday, and the third and final game at noon on Sunday at Medlar Field.

Penn State Softball vs. Rutgers

Softball is also home this weekend, hosting the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for a three-game series. The Nittany Lions can pull their in-conference record up to .500 with a series sweep.

Softball’s three-game series also spans throughout the entire weekend. The games will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, 5 p.m. on Saturday, and at noon on Sunday at Nittany Lion Softball Park & Beard Field.

Let Love Transform — Aaron Bear / Sea Offs

If you like coffee and live performances, Saturday night’s event at Webster’s is perfect for some weekend fun. Aaron Bear and Sea Offs will perform at the cafĂ© from 8-10 p.m. Bear will perform his full-length album “Let Love Transform,” which is an eclectic concoction of rock, folk, and indie music that delves into an underlying theme of love.

Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour

At this event run by the Sierra Club Moshannon Group, a variety of films will be shown on both Friday and Saturday night at the State Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the films start at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased here.
