Tyler Akers Re-Elected Student Fee Board Chair

The 2019-20 University Park Student Fee Board met for the first time Friday and re-elected Tyler Akers chair.

Akers presided over the first yearly decrease in the three-year history of the Board in its last cycle when it recommended a $265 per student per semester fee for the upcoming academic year.

The recommendation included significant increases in funding for several student organizations, including the LGBTQA Student Resource Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, and the University Park Allocation Committee.

The Fee Board’s recommendation will be reviewed and confirmed by the Board of Trustees at its July meeting.

Akers, who also served as the chair of the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) Student Life Committee last term, recently campaigned for the position of UPUA Speaker of Assembly. He lost to Tom Sarabok in the organization’s internal elections earlier this month and will serve as an at-large representative in the coming year.
