State College Spikes To Host Trace McSorley Bobblehead Night

The State College Spikes announced plans for three bobblehead nights that feature a few of Penn State’s finest athletic alumni, including three-year starting quarterback Trace McSorley.

McSorley’s bobblehead features his famous home run swing touchdown celebration. The first 1,000 fans in attendance at the Spikes’ game against the West Virginia Power on Sunday, August 25 will get their hands on the bobblehead.

Penn State’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and total offense won’t be in attendance for his bobblehead night. He’ll probably be busy preparing for his first NFL season after the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the sixth round of this year’s draft.

In addition to McSorley, the Spikes will host Blair Thomas and David Taylor bobblehead nights during the 2019 season. Thomas’ bobblehead will be given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance for the Spikes’ contest against West Virginia on Friday, July 26 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The former Penn State running back finished his Nittany Lion career with 23 touchdowns and 3301 rushing yards, going on to become the second overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft to the New York Jets. He’ll also be in attendance for an autograph signing during the game.

Taylor’s bobblehead will be given out before State College takes on the Auburn Doubledays on Saturday, August 17. The Penn State wrestling legend is a two-time national champion and winner of the 2014 Big Ten Wrestler of the Year.

Taylor won the United World Wrestling title in October 2018, and his bobblehead fittingly features him holding an American flag over his shoulders, and he’ll also be in attendance to meet fans during the game.
