Active Shooter Training To Be Held At Beaver Stadium

An emergency training exercise will be held at Beaver Stadium from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10. The training will evaluate and improve police response to active shooter incidents. Although it will be held at Beaver Stadium, the exercise is not specific to football games.

Hosted by Penn State University Police and Public Safety, the emergency exercise will be led by both the campus and borough police. “Local, state and federal agencies from multiple public safety disciplines” will also attend, according to a news release from the university.

The release noted that students, employees and visitors should not be alarmed by emergency vehicles on campus during the exercise.

This training comes just a few months after a shooting at the Ramada Inn on South Atherton Street that left three people dead.
