Yallah Taco Offers Glimpse Into Renovated College Ave. Location

Yallah Taco gave folks a sneak peek into its new College Ave. location this week when it posted a few pictures of the former Taco Bell’s renovated interior.

Yallah posted a few pictures of its new digs on its Instagram story. The renovations included updated seating, colorful walls, new lighting, and a larger-than-life Yallah sign inside.

The interior updates are the latest renovations Yallah has made to the space. Earlier this summer, it painted its outdoor facade blue, pink, and yellow — matching Yallah’s signature neon color palette. The colors match its existing taco stand in McAllister Alley.

Currently, no new information surrounding Yallah’s opening is available besides it “opening soon,” according to a banner out front. Earlier this spring, owner Hitham Hiyajneh said he hoped to open the shop this summer but knows the coronavirus pandemic may affect plans.

Hiyajneh said the new College Ave. location will allow Yallah to expand its services in a number of ways. The restaurant will begin serving breakfast and lunch, in addition to its signature tacos and burritos, once it opens. It’ll also remain open until 3 a.m. According to Hiyajneh, Yallah’s new location will also begin serving “platters and more authentic Mexican food.”

“College Ave. gives us a whole different exposure,” Hiyajneh said when he announced the move in April. “The space over there is way better in the sense that there’s more room and we can make a lot more food.”

Hiyajneh made it clear the new College Ave. location is an expansion of his business and won’t mean already-existing restaurants are closing or moving.

Back in February, Taco Bell infamously closed its doors, prompting an unprecedented student-led vigil. The ceremony garnered the attention of Twitter users across the country and even made its way onto that week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
