Phyrst, Local Whiskey To Showcase Penn State Football Classics Starting September 5

Starting on Saturday, September 5, the Phyrst and Local Whiskey will showcase some of the best Penn State football games of all-time in their socially distanced bar. Games will air every Saturday for 11 weeks, ending on November 14.

“Every Saturday beginning September 5th until November 14th, join us as we showcase some of the most iconic Penn State football victories that have helped shape Penn State as we know it today,” the Phyrst wrote in an Instagram post. “Now more than ever, ‘WE ARE!’ should echo through Happy Valley!”

Last week, the Big Ten postponed all fall sports, including football, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to see the Nittany Lions go 1-0 each week. But if you are still ready for Penn State football (and you will be), the Phyrst has you covered with some of the very best games in program history.

Do you want to relive Grant Haley’s historic blocked kick return against Ohio State? How about two national championships? Those are only a few of the many games that will be showcased over the 11-week stretch.

Below, you’ll find the full schedule of games the Phyrst will air from September 5 to November 14. The bar will get things started with a three-game marathon of Pitt clobberings.

  • 12:30 p.m. September 5: Pitt Triple Header (1981, 1988, 2017)
  • 12:30 p.m. September 12: 2002 Nebraska
  • 12:30 p.m. September 19: Michigan Triple Header (1994, 2013, 2019)
  • 12:30 p.m. September 26: 1999 Miami
  • 3:30 p.m. October 3: 2017 Iowa
  • 3:30 p.m. October 10: 2016 Ohio State
  • 3:30 p.m. October 17: 2016 Wisconsin (Big Ten Championship)
  • 3:30 p.m. October 24: 2019 Memphis (Cotton Bowl)
  • 12:30 p.m. October 31: 2006 Florida State (Orange Bowl)
  • 3:30 p.m. November 7: 1995 Oregon (Rose Bowl)
  • 12:30 p.m. November 14: 1982 Georgia and 1987 Miami (National Championships)

Well, it’s better than nothing.
