Penn State Dining Introduces Mobile Ordering App

Penn State has released a new mobile app that allows students to place orders at select on-campus restaurants and shops with the tap of a button.

The new system, named Penn State Eats, comes at a great time. After all, the last thing anyone wants to be doing amid the coronavirus pandemic is hanging around crowded convenience stores while waiting for their food.

Penn State Eats can be found under the Dining tab within Penn State Go, the university’s recently launched all-in-one mobile app. Students can log in using their Penn State IDs or simply as a guest if they feel like avoiding the hassle.

To order, head over to Penn State Go or Penn State Eats’ website. There, you’ll find a wide array of on-campus vendors to choose from, including coffee shops, convenience stores, and quick-service eateries. Each option conviniently displays its current hours and address.

After selecting the option of your choosing, you can pay ahead of time using LionCash+, meal points, or your debit or credit cards. Your financial information can be saved within the app, allowing you to easily access funds on the go.

When placing your order, you’ll also have the freedom to choose what time it’ll be prepared. If you’re ready to go off the bat, most orders can be set to get picked up within 10 minutes. If not, you can tell the app to prepare your food in as far away as an hour or two.

It’s worth noting, though, that dining halls themselves don’t currently offer mobile ordering. They are, however, implementing a revamped takeout service that works surprisingly well.
