Penn State Names Robert Springall Executive Director For Undergraduate Admissions

Penn State has named Robert G. Springall its new assistant vice president for Undergraduate Education and executive director of Undergraduate Admissions, the university announced Thursday.

He’ll step into his new role beginning October 1.

Springall was previously employed at Muhlenberg College as its vice president of enrollment management. He has also served as a member of the board of directors for The Common Application and as chair of the board from July 2017 to June 2018. Prior to working at Muhlenberg, Springall was the dean of admissions at Bucknell University.

Springall began his career in the world of higher education at Rochester Institute of Technology before becoming the enrollment management world at the University of Vermont. He worked at Cornell University’s College of Engineering and College of Agriculture and Life Science for seven years, from 1997 to 2004.

Under his time at the University of Central Florida, Springall helped grow enrollment in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management by 280% and increased new student diversity by 50%. He hopes to work closely with colleagues to bring forth this type of success to Penn State.

“I am most looking forward to helping Penn State envision what enrollment success looks like, on every campus and in every college, in alignment with the University’s mission and demographic changes happening in Pennsylvania and beyond,” Springall said. “It is also high on my priority list to engage my admissions colleagues across the University to continue to innovate and to help them develop and thrive as well.”

Springall earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in business from Rochester Institute of Technology. He later completed a master’s degree in student personnel services from the University of South Carolina.
