Lion Surplus To Reopen September 1

Penn State’s Lion Surplus will reopen on Tuesday, September 1, the university announced this week.

The equipment resale shop, which is located on Services Road, will be in service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until further notice.

Adjusted hours of operation and customer capacity limits will be implemented to comply with Penn State and Centers for Disease Control safety guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic. Currently, a maximum of 10 customers will be allowed in Lion Surplus at one time.

Auction dates that were previously postponed due to the campus closure will be announced at a later date, the store said.

Lion Surplus manages the removal and resale of university-owned equipment in environmentally conscious ways. The store offloads its product via bids, auctions, and sales. Like a local Goodwill, Lion Surplus has a wide array of things to offer, from lost bikes to a grand piano.
