Lt. Governor John Fetterman To Host Virtual Lecture October 1

Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman will speak to Penn State students at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 1 via Zoom.

Fetterman will discuss a variety of topics related to civic engagement. He plans to specifically address the importance of participating as college students and share tips on registering to vote.

Additionally, Fetterman will also touch on the proper way to turn in absentee ballots and how Pennsylvania’s recent naked ballot ruling could jeopardize thousands of votes if ballots are turned in improperly.

Those interested in attending the event should register using this link. Registered students can expect the Zoom link to be emailed to them before the event begins.

The event, put on by PSU Votes, is sponsored by UPUA, as well as Penn State Lion Caucus, Student Affairs, and the Center for Character, Conscience, and Public Purpose.

Fetterman’s virtual lecture is part of a larger series of speakers that PSU Votes and UPUA’s new department of civic engagement hope to sponsor before the upcoming election. The department of civic engagement was created in late July through an executive order made by UPUA President Zach McKay in hopes of seeing greater student engagement across campus.

“The UPUA is excited to continue spearheading PSU Votes initiatives, including sponsoring more speakers, registering students to vote, encouraging students to request absentee ballots, and more,” At-Large Representative and PSU Votes Roundtable Co-Chair Noah Robertson said.
