Bon Jovi referenced Penn State on a new track from the band’s latest album, “2020.”

The album’s seventh song, “Lower The Flag,” was inspired by the 2019 Dayton, Ohio shooting that left nine people dead and 17 injured. The track’s lyrics reference a number of mass shootings and encourage people to “talk about” gun violence and “figure it out.”

In the song’s bridge, singer Jon Bon Jovi sings the locations of a number shooting, including Las Vegas, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Columbine, and Penn State.

It’s unclear exactly which shooting he was referencing, whether that be the event that killed two people at Penn State Beaver in 2017, the shooting that killed one student on the HUB Lawn in 1996, or even 2019’s shooting that killed three people in State College.

“2020,” Bon Jovi’s 15th studio album, released Friday, October 2. Its themes heavily revolve around politics and world events, such as migrants’ struggles, military service, George Floyd’s death, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
