Penn State Moving Walk-Up Coronavirus Testing To Pegula Starting October 9

Penn State is moving its walk-up coronavirus testing to Pegula Ice Arena’s main concourse starting Friday, October 9, the university announced Thursday.

Penn State said moving walk-up testing indoors was necessary thanks to the arrival of colder fall weather. Currently, walk-up testing is located at the HUB Parking Deck.

At Pegula, asymptomatic University Park students can receive a free coronavirus test from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.

Employees, meanwhile, can access Pegula’s testing site from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. They can also walk up at any time during the center’s normal operating hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Registration isn’t required, but students and employees will need to bring their identification and mobile phones if they wish to be tested.

Individuals are required to refrain from eating, drinking, chewing, or smoking 30 minutes before arriving for a walk-up test.

Those who are experiencing coronavirus symptoms, meanwhile, should schedule a test through University Health Services’ website or call 814-863-0774.

It’s important to note walk-up testing does not replace Penn State’s mandatory random surveillance testing for students and employees. Anyone contacted for random testing is still expected and required to comply.

To date, Penn State has reported 2,964 student coronavirus cases at University Park — 503 of which remain active. Six employees have also tested positive for the virus since testing began in August.
