HUB-Robeson Galleries Announce Virtual October Events

Even though the coronavirus pandemic has canceled most of the on-campus events that were planned for this semester, the HUB is still making its best effort to put on some cool virtual events for Penn Staters to enjoy.

Recently, HUB Galleries announced its lineup of online and virtual events for the month of October. All events are free to attend and require a Zoom registration, which can be accessed here.

Here’s a quick overview of the three virtual events:

Migrant Stories

When: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 13 via Zoom

This talk is inspired by the recent HUB-Robeson Galleries art installation “Hostile Terrain 94,” which pays homage to the migrants who have lost their lives trying to cross the Arizona border. The Artist Talk and Workshop will also cover the contemporary theater work “Fandango For Butterflies (And Coyotes)” that the Center For Performing Arts plans to unveil in fall 2021.

Artist Talk With Soojin Choi

When: 7 p.m. Thursday, October 15 via Zoom

Ceramics and sculpture artist Soojin Choi, whose piece Human Expectations is currently on display on the first floor of the HUB, will be giving an artist talk as part of the PSU Ceramics Virtual Visiting Artists Series.

CARE. not convenience

When: Noon Thursday, October 22 via Zoom

What it is: Artists Jae Won Lee and Kelly Salchow MacArthur, who created the HUB’s current exhibition “CARE. not convenience,” will be giving a virtual walkthrough of their piece. Students are invited to share their thoughts and reactions, and exhibitions intern Rachel Suga will also lead a Q&A.
