The Best Of Your Penn State Weddings…Again: Part One

From Happy Valley to happily ever after, Penn State lovers are proud to show their blue and white roots.

We asked our readers to see how Lion Pride was incorporated on their wedding days. From Nittany Lion napkins to “Zombie Nation” tributes, Penn Staters know how to celebrate tying the knot.

We received far too many submissions to include in just one post. Until next week, enjoy a few of our favorite submissions so far.

Rosemary & Daniel Ciletti

Wedding location: Beaver Stadium

Wedding date: October 13, 2012

While it was at a sporting cathedral instead of an actual one, Rosemary and Daniel Ciletti got the wedding of their dreams.

“We got married in State College at Our Lady of Victory Church on October 13, 2012 and met our wildest dreams by holding our reception in Beaver Stadium!” Rosemary Ciletti said. “Not only have Dan and I stayed together, but most of our close friends to this day are still most of those in the friend group from Hoyt Hall freshman year! They have all been with us for the whole ride!”

Everything from the couples’ wardrobe to the playlist was tailored towards Happy Valley.

“We had a very Penn State themed wedding. Our colors were navy and white, we made our reception entrance to the fight song while our guests cheered us on with blue and white pom-poms, and our guests’ table numbers were printed on look-alike tickets. Our family bleeds blue and white, and it certainly showed in our wedding day!”

The couple even arrived at the ceremony via classic Penn State Blue Buses.

Irina & Brian Goeringer

Wedding Location: Vail, Colorado

Wedding Date: July 27, 2019

Irina and Brian Goeringer celebrated their big day in the Rocky Mountains at the beautiful Vail Lake. The photo ops had one prerequisite: you must have gone to Dear Old State!

“We met at a Jersey Shore themed party and broke the #1 rule. Also, all of the people in the photo are PSU alumni!”

Caroline and Anthony Lerch

Wedding Location: Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

Wedding Date: October 19, 2019

The Lerch’s wedding had it all, from the White Out to Penn State-styled corn hole.

“Our wedding fell on the White Out against Michigan last year. We brought the game atmosphere to us with pom-poms, the bride and groom entrance to Zombie Nation (including throwing the bride into the air), Penn State themed signature drinks (Happy Valley Mule and Blue and White Lemonade), and other PSU decor!” Caroline Lerch said. “We closed the night with Sweet Caroline, then headed back to our hotel where all guests changed into white to watch the last quarter of the game and keep the party going!”

No wedding is complete without cornhole. It’s a fact.

Ah, yes. The two words every happy couple wants to hear: “I do!” “We Are!”

Gianna and Michael Palmer

Wedding Location: Richboro, Pennsylvania

Wedding Date: December 27, 2019

Michael Palmer brought his fiancee back to State College to pop the question. Well done Mike!

“Mike decided to plan our five year anniversary to be celebrated up at State, and recreate our first date at Cozy Thai —I knew something was coming,” Gianna Palmer said.

“We went to the winery. When we got back to our hotel, he tells me we’re going on a scavenger hunt. A walk down memory lane to all the places that were important to us: My house senior year, his frat, Burrowes Corner, the stadium, and finally the Arboretum.”

“Each spot he gave me a letter [describing] our memories shared there. At the Arboretum, we walked around the maze, and I spot his brother with flowers—it was happening. On November 3, 2018, Mike proposed to me at the place where we shared all our fondest memories!”

Look, we can never get enough of seeing your Penn State-themed “I Dos.” If you’ve got a story you’re burning to tell or pictures you’d like to share with the world, send ’em our way!
