The Best Of Your Penn State Weddings…Again: Part Two

Courtesy of Haley Gargan

After last week’s first look at Penn State-inspired “I Dos,” love is clearly in the brisk Happy Valley air.

This week, we continue our wedding features with a look at more of your one-of-a-kind Penn State wedding submissions.

Rebecca Babyak & Kyle Sam

Wedding Location: St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in State College, Pa.

Wedding Date: April 29, 2017

For many Penn Staters, the Corner Room has never looked so beautiful!

“As we exited the church, fire trucks happened to be going by and they gave us lots of honks and sirens, which our guests enjoyed,” Babyak said.

“In September 2015, Kyle proposed on a football Saturday outside of Leonhard Building (where we first met)!”

“Instead of table numbers, we did bars of State College; the head table was The Phyrst because that was (and still is) our favorite bar in State College.”

Take notes, ladies and gentlemen! This could come in handy.

Shannon and Michael De Giorgis

Wedding Location: Toftrees Country Club in State College, Pa.

Wedding Date: June 19, 2020

When the pandemic initially hit, these lovestruck Penn Staters were unsure if their dream wedding could come true. Just weeks before their wedding day, restrictions were lifted. Their wedding ceremony and reception were safely held while their fantasies became reality.

“After being together for a little over a year and both of us finally graduating, October 6, 2017, Mike got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of the Lion Shrine,” Shannon De Giorgis said. “From there, we started talking about where and when we wanted to get married. Obviously, we both unanimously decided where better than Penn State to get married, since that’s where our love story all began.”

Like we said, the sound of the Old Main’s bell turns into wedding bells. Seriously!

For Shannon and Michael, standing at Childhood’s Gate only meant one thing: fate.

A simple but original touch! You can never go wrong with blue and white shakers.

Haley and Zachary Gargan

Wedding Location: Pasquerilla Spiritual Center

Wedding Date: April 5, 2014

“We met in an education course at the Chambers Building in 2007. I ended up switching my degree so we didn’t see each other for a year,” Haley Gargan said. “As fate would have it, we randomly took the same meteorology course and met again in 2008 in Walker. The rest was history. We have been together ever since!”

“We bleed blue and white! We are both teachers now in Virginia. Our classrooms are full of PSU décor and we are always up for a good college game =day. Penn State brought us together; we will forever be Penn State.”

To fall in love with Haley and Zachary’s Penn State story even more, they have been together for a total of 12 years and have two kids together.

Look, we can never get enough of seeing your Penn State-themed “I Dos.” If you’ve got a story you’re burning to tell or pictures you’d like to share with the world, send ’em our way!
