Penn State Implements Ohio State Traffic Changes Despite Tailgaiting Ban

Penn State issued a parking, traffic, and transit advisory ahead of the Nittany Lions’ home opener against Ohio State on Saturday, October 31.

The advisory, which goes into effect at midnight Friday, includes a strict no-tailgating policy on campus or in Penn State’s parking lots. All regular gameday parking zones will be closed in adherence to Penn State’s new guidelines.

Penn State will close the following lots Friday through the conclusion of Saturday’s game:

  • Jordan East
  • Stadium West
  • Porter North
  • Porter South
  • Orange L East
  • Orange L South
  • Yellow V
  • Yellow H South (Pegula Ice Arena)
  • Orange O (Pavilion)
  • Orange B (Softball Park)

Penn State will also closee a few roads, including Curtin Road between University Drive and Porter Road and Porter Road between Park Avenue and Hastings Road.

The road closures will subsequently impact CATA’s normal transit service routes on-campus. Below are the scheduled adjustments set by CATA in conjunction with the enacted guidelines:

  • The HM route will detour around Beaver Stadium using University Drive and Park Avenue:
    • Outbound — Curtin Road to University Drive to Park Avenue To Fox Hollow Road
    • Inbound — Fox Hollow Road to Park Avenue to University Drive to Curtain Road
  • The Blue Loop will travel right onto right onto University Drive from Curtain Road, then right on Hastings road. From there, normal routing will be resumed.
  • The Red Link will detour around Beaver Stadium by utilizing University Drive and Park Avenue:
    • Outbound — Curtin Road to University Drive to Park Avenue to resumed normal routing.
    • Inbound — Park Avenue to University Drive to Curtin Road to resumed normal routing.

Penn State said it will continue to keep students updated on safety measures in anticipation of Saturday’s game.
