Penn State Hoops To Open Season With Four Non-Conference Home Games

Penn State men’s basketball released the dates and opponents for the first five games of the year Monday afternoon.

The first four games are all home contests against Drexel, VMI, VCU, and Seton Hall, with the next game at Virginia Tech for the ACC/Big Ten challenge.

The first game of the year will be on Wednesday, November 25 against Drexel. The last time the Nittany Lions faced off against the Dragons was in the 2015-2016 season, which resulted in a victory for Penn State. The Nittany Lions have never lost to Drexel and are 6-0 all time.

The next game will be against VMI on Saturday, November 28. As with Drexel, the last time these two teams played was in the 2015-2016 season and Penn State won. The Nittany Lions have a 4-1 series record against the Keydets.

VCU will travel to Happy Valley to play Penn State on Tuesday, December 2. This will be the first time these two teams have played one another in their respective programs history.

Seton Hall returns to Penn State after a lengthy time away, when the Pirates and the Nittany Lions play on Saturday, December 6. The last time these two teams played was in 2007, where the Nittany Lions came away victorious in an overtime thriller. Penn State holds a 5-1 series advantage over Seton Hall.

The first road test for the Nittany Lions comes on Tuesday, December 8 at Virginia Tech. This is a part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge held every year between the two conferences. The Hokies hold a 6-3 all time record against the Nittany Lions, but Penn State has won in the last two meetings between them.

The 2020-21 Big Ten Conference schedule will be announced at a later date, so the schedule is certainly far from complete.
