Penn State Offering Pre-Departure Coronavirus Testing

With fall break right around the corner, Penn State is offering free pre-departure coronavirus tests at the Bryce Jordan Center this week

The tests, which will be conducted through Thursday, November 19, can be reserved online. Students can easily schedule an appointment today through Penn State’s online portal.

Each test takes about 10 minutes, and results are returned a day or two later. Students are asked to bring their Penn State IDs and refrain from eating or drinking 30 minutes before they begin their tests.

Penn State’s quarantine and isolation spaces at Eastview Terrace will remain open once classes move online next week.

Students who’ve tested positive since August 22 don’t need to be retested, according to the university.

Although pre-departure testing is entirely voluntary, students are urged to get one done to ensure they won’t bring the virus home with them over the holidays.

Penn State is encouraging students to stay home for days before and after they receive a coronavirus test. They’re also advised to continue to socially distance and wear masks while outdoors.
