Transfer Portal Roundup: Week 11

Penn State is now 0-4 on the season and stuck in the basement of the Big Ten for the first time in a long time.

With the Nittany Lions looking pretty rough, you might want to do yourself a favor and focus on some other athletes for a bit. Luckily, some former Penn Staters played well for their new schools this past weekend.

Let’s take a look around college football to see how the former Penn State stars fared.

Justin Shorter, Florida

Shorter may be finding his groove down south. The former five-star recruit caught his third touchdown pass in three weeks during Florida’s blowout 63-35 win over Arkansas.

Shorter’s score came midway through the second quarter when he connected on a 21-yard pass from Heisman candidate Kyle Trask. It was his only catch of the day.

Shorter is still a depth option, but three touchdowns in three weeks must have Florida fans loving the potential he has shown as a part of the lethal Gator offense. Shorter could score a touchdown in four straight games versus a winless Vanderbilt team on Saturday.

Zech McPhearson, Texas Tech

Following Zech McPhearson this season has been simly awesome, as the former Penn Stater has been enjoying the best campaign of his college career.

McPhearson got his third interception on the season during the Red Raiders’ 24-23 win over Baylor.

McPhearson’s takeaway was the start of a second-half comeback for the 3-5 Red Raiders. Texas Tech has a bye this weekend before playing No. 14 Oklahoma State on November 28.

Other Notables

Daniel Joseph (NC State) had four tackles in 38-22 win over Florida State.

DJ Brown (LA Tech) saw his game against North Texas get postponed due to the coronavirus.

John Petrishen (Pitt) had his game against Georgia Tech moved due to the coronavirus.
