Penn State To Continue Coronavirus Testing During Remote Period

Although many students won’t be on campus in the coming weeks and months, Penn State will continue offering coronavirus testing opportunities for those who stick around.

The university will move walk-up testing at Hintz Family Alumni Center from noon to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from November 30 to January 18. The service is available to all students as well as employees listed in Penn State’s Return To Work database.

During that same period, Penn State will require students still living in the dorms to complete weekly coronavirus testing. They’ll also be administered at Hintz Family Alumni Center. Students will be notified through weekly emails.

“I’m thankful for the efforts of the entire University community in doing their part to mitigate the impact of this virus,” Penn State President Eric Barron said. “Without your dedication and commitment, we would not have been able to accomplish our goal of returning to in-person teaching this fall.”

Penn State will suspend random surveillance testing for students and employees at all locations, except Hershey, between November 30 and January 18. Hershey students will continue receiving random testing as clinical programs continue.

As always, University Health Services will provide symptomatic on-demand testing for those who need it. You can schedule an appointment at any time through myUHS.

Penn State’s quarantine and isolation spaces at Eastview Terrace will remain open once classes move online next week.
