Penn State Football’s Keyvone Lee Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week
Penn State football running back Keyvone Lee has earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday morning.
Lee is the first Nittany Lion to receive the honor since Jayson Oweh on October 28 of last year. Additionally, he’s the first Penn State player to earn any weekly Big Ten award this season.
Lee dominated in the Nittany Lions’ win over Michigan to the tune of 22 carries for 134 yards (6.1 yards per attempt) and a touchdown. It was a career performance for the true freshman, as he set a new career-high in both rushing attempts and yards.
His 134 rushing yards are the most by a Penn State true freshman running back since Saquon Barkley’s 194-yard performance against Ohio State in 2015.
Lee led the way for an explosive Penn State rushing attack Saturday afternoon that exploited Michigan’s defense for 254 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Lee will attempt to carry the momentum into next week’s matchup when the Nittany Lions travel to Piscataway to take on Rutgers.
