UPUA To Host ‘Movies For Mental Health’ Event November 30

The University Park Undergraduate Association, in partnership with Art With Impact, will host a virtual “Movies For Mental Health” event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 30.

The organizations will play three award-winning short films about mental health. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in discussions about the stigmas surrounding mental health, and their impact on under-represented communities.

Attendees will have the option to join anonymously and should register using this link.

Art With Impact is an organization that hosts innovative art-based workshops aimed at promoting health and wellness.

UPUA passed legislation during its assembly meeting on November 5 to fund the event. The organization is allocating approximately $3,000 of its budget for marketing for the event, paying a trained facilitator, film licensing, and more.

The event is part of a larger string of programs and initiatives UPUA is working on that aim to support students suffering from mental health issues. In 2012, UPUA began hosting its annual “Mental Health Awareness Week,” followed by roundtables, events, and initiatives in later years.
