LEAP Program Seeking Mentors For Summer 2021

Penn State’s Learning Edge Academic Program (LEAP) is once again looking for upperclassmen interested in helping the Class of 2025 successfully transition from high school student to College Kid™.

As per tradition, LEAP will take place over the course of Summer Session II, which will begin on June 28 and run until August 13. The program allows new freshmen to have an easy transition to college while giving them the chance to begin to build their Penn State friendships.

Applications for the program are now live. If you’re interested in taking on the challenge of taming college freshmen, there will be three virtual information sessions at 6 p.m. on January 19, noon on January 27, and 8 p.m. on February 11.

“Mentors provide academic support and plan enriching social activities for LEAP participants throughout the program,” the application reads. “Mentors also work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and fellow Mentors to provide LEAP students with a rewarding and memorable Penn State experience.”

Interested applicants must submit an online application which includes a resume and cover letter, and a fall 2020 unofficial transcript must be emailed to leap@psu.edu.

Applications will be reviewed immediately. The process will continue until all positions are filled.
