19 Coronavirus Cases Added To Penn State’s COVID-19 Dashboard

Nineteen more University Park students and employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to Wednesday’s update to Penn State’s “revamped” COVID-19 Dashboard.

The university administered 480 student tests and 104 employee tests between January 18 and 20, resulting in 17 students positives and two employee positives, respectively.

Penn State’s total positivity rate since December 19 remains at 3.1%. Sixteen students are currently isolated or in quarantine at Eastview Terrace. The university’s capacity sits at 400 total spaces.

To date, 100 students have tested positive through Penn State’s pre-arrival testing for the spring semester. The university has admitted 4,842 tests, resulting in an overall 2.1% positivity rate.

The dashboard also incorporates figures from student-athlete testing conducted and any tests taken by those who stayed on campus following the fall semester.

Penn State plans on updating the newly unveiled dashboard three times a week throughout the semester on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The university said testing data is added to the dashboard once results are received.

New features on the dashboard include an “All Campuses” button that shows testing statistics for Penn State’s entire network, calculations for positivity rates, and “enhanced” quarantine and isolation data.

Penn State recently unveiled new plans for spring coronavirus testing. On top of random surveillance testing, the university will conduct universal testing of all on-campus students starting February 15 and continue offering walk-up testing to those who need it. Additionally, any students living in the dorms during Penn State’s remote period must complete weekly testing through February 12.

Editor’s Note: Following today’s update, Onward State will begin publishing weekly COVID-19 Dashboard summaries. Feel free to check out our site on Friday afternoons for updates on Penn State’s coronavirus testing figures, quarantine and isolation space capacity, and more.
