Palmer Museum Of Art To Reopen February 10

Penn State’s Palmer Museum of Art will reopen on Wednesday, February 10, after an extended closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, the university announced Wednesday.

Once its doors are open, museum visitors must reserve a free timed-entry ticket on the museum’s website prior to arrival.

The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. It’ll be closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays. The last timed ticket will be processed at 4:15 p.m.

“We are thrilled to finally reopen our doors to the public and to do so by placing the welfare and safety of our visitors as our top priority,” Erin M. Coe, director of the Palmer Museum of Art, said. “Even with the COVID-19 restrictions in place, we are confident visitors will enjoy a self-guided tour of our permanent collection and special exhibitions.”

The timed-ticketing entry is contactless. Visitors will tap their phone on a pedestal at the Visitor Services desk. Visitors without advance reservations must check in at the front desk to request a timed-entry ticket.

Building capacity is limited to 30 people. There will be two reservation slots capped at 15 visitors an hour for an hour-long stay in the galleries to reduce gatherings and lines. No public tours are currently being offered.

Additionally, virtual programs and events will continue throughout the spring semester for those who cannot visit in-person.
