Four-Star Defensive End Davon Townley Commits To Penn State

Penn State football’s 2021 recruiting class just got a bit of a boost.

Four-star defensive end Davon Townley announced Wednesday that he’ll be playing his college football as a Nittany Lion. Townley will be a member of Penn State’s 2021 recruiting class. He shared his commitment live on 247Sports’ National Signing Day livestream.

“I chose Penn State because, first off, they’re a good school on the athletic side, but also academics is important too,” Townley said. “So I felt like I was setting myself up to be in a good position for the next four years by choosing Penn State.”

The Minneapolis, Minnesota native is highly touted as a recruit due to his pure athleticism. The 6’6″, 220-pound defensive end played both basketball and football during high school. As the biggest man on the court, his highlights are naturally pretty crazy.

Townley didn’t begin playing football until his junior year of high school, so his proven athletic ability is the most intriguing piece of his recruiting profile. He’s a top-25 defensive end recruit and the No. 3 prospect in all of Minnesota, according to 247Sports.

The defensive stud joins a 2021 Penn State recruiting class that didn’t draw lots of buzz, now holding a No. 21 national ranking and No. 6 conference ranking after Townley’s commitment. The class is headlined by offensive tackle Landon Tangwall and quarterback Christian Veilleux.
