Big Ten Makes Minor Changes To Penn State Football’s 2021 Schedule

The Big Ten announced several adjustments to its 2021 football schedule Friday afternoon, including a few changes to Penn State’s campaign.

The Nittany Lions will still face all of the same opponents it was slated to this fall. However, a few of their contests have swapped dates, and their bye week has shifted back in the schedule.

Most of Penn State’s marquee matchups remain on the same date, including the season-opener at Wisconsin on Saturday, September 4 and a week-three battle with Auburn at Beaver Stadium on September 18. However, the Nittany Lions’ road battle with Ohio State has been pushed up to October 30.

James Franklin’s squad was originally scheduled to play the Buckeyes on November 20, but it will now face Rutgers for a late November contest.

As for Penn State’s bye week, that’s been moved back two weeks to October 16. That was originally set as a home game against Illinois and was announced as Penn State’s Homecoming weekend just earlier this week. The Nittany Lions will now face Illinois on October 23 at Beaver Stadium, but it remains unclear if Homecoming 2021 will also shift to that date.

Instead of a weekend off on October 2, the Nittany Lions will now host Indiana with a chance for some revenge. After that, Franklin’s squad will travel to Iowa City for a date with the Hawkeyes.

Lastly and most importantly, the battle for the beautiful Land-Grant Trophy will now be Penn State’s regular season finale. The Nittany Lions were originally slated to take on Michigan State on October 23, but the two squads will now face off on November 27 in East Lansing as part of rivalry weekend.

Here’s a full look at Penn State’s updated 2021 schedule:
