Cover Band ‘OK Otter’ Returns To THON With Laidback Performance

Twangy rock cover group OK Otter performed Friday night from the Bryce Jordan Center for THON 2021.

The band’s set included classic, laidback rock songs that keep dancers in a good mood. It played for about an hour and delivered straight-up bops the whole set.

The Philly and South Jersey-based band started out its set with a killer song choice, “All These Things That I’ve Done,” by The Killers. OK Otter’s jam band feel is just what late-night THON needs as the rest period nears.

OK Otter kept putting on hit after hit with other classics such as The Band’s “Atlantic City,” Dave Matthews Band’s “Ants Marching,” and “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison.

OK Otter dedicated “Chicken Fried” by the Zac Brown Band to all the THON dancers dancing from their apartments or dorms. The group of six made its second THON appearance this year and luckily was one of the live performers.

The band continued to deliver crowd-pleasers that dancers can vibe to, such as The Grateful Dead’s “Scarlet Begonias” and Rusted Root’s “Send Me On My Way.”

Other songs on its list were “Fisherman Blues” by The Waterboys, “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, “Gold on the Ceiling” by the Black Keys, and “Good Lovin'” by The Rascals, keeping up the trend of playing absolute bangers.

Nearing the end of its performance, OK Otter played The Strokes’ “Someday” and some more Van Morrison with “Wild Nights.” Apparently, the drummer is a pro at singing Van Morrison, as he sang both of those covers.

OK Otter rounded out its set with the Dropkick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” for an upbeat finale to Friday night’s THON stream.
