Recreating The BJC Experience While THONing From Home

Happy THON, folks!

If you’re involved in THON in any way, you probably feel like you’re in a time warp right now. If we’ve learned one thing from virtual THON so far, it’s that time is irrelevant and nothing feels real whether you’re actually in the Bryce Jordan Center or not.

After staring at my computer screen for almost 12 straight hours today, I am starting to go a little bit crazy. So, I decided to recreate the BJC environment during THON from my apartment in hopes of regaining some of my sanity.

Eating A Chicken Basket

Even though we can’t be in the BJC, we can still get delicious Beaver Stadium chicken baskets! If you close your eyes and take a bite, it’s almost like you’re actually in the BJC.

Working On Press Row

Reporting on THON from home is a little a lot different than reporting on THON from the BJC. No worries, though! Just push together some furniture and boom! Bootleg press row.

Dressing Up & Dancing

Forget tutus and funky hats. The official attire of virtual THON is ratty wigs and ski goggles (read: that’s all I could find in my apartment.)

Stretching

Even though we’re not standing in the BJC, it’s still important to take care of yourself. Go for a walk, drink some water, and get stretching!

Mopping The Floor Like OPP

After hours of BJC craze, it only makes sense that the floor got dirty. In typical OPP fashion, I grabbed my mop broom and pasta pot and got my hands dirty.

Buying THON Merch On The Concourse

How can you leave the “BJC” without some sweet merch? There are plenty of great options to choose from.

Staring At Myself In The Mirror Of The BJC Bathroom & Trying To Remember Who I Am

After an extremely long and tiring day of doing THON things, nothing feels real, and it’s hard to remember who I am. So, I took some time to stare at myself in the mirror and compose myself.

Giving Myself A Pep Talk After I Remember Who I Am

Once I remembered who I am, I gave myself a much-needed pep talk. Now I’m ready to do it all over again tomorrow!
