We’ve made it to Sunday, folks!

To get the day started on a good note, the livestream picked back up (somewhat on time today!) with an energetic performance by indie rock and psychedelia band Lenina Crowne.

Known for various gigs at bars in downtown State College, this group released its first EP, “Try a Gramme,” in 2015 and followed up with “Time” in 2017. Since then, Lenina Crowne has also released an album, “Everyone Belongs to Everyone Else.”

The band members opened with an upbeat cover of “I Want You Back,” by the Jackson Five before transitioning into Sublime’s “Santeria” and Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” — a favorite during THON Weekends. These classics immediately set the tone for the rest of the performance (as well as the rest of the day) and likely woke up viewers who had started to dose off watching one pre-recorded interview after the next while the livestream was offline.

Lenina Crowne also treated the virtual audience to more covers of Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So,” Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets,” and the Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down.” Before the performance concluded, the band played a song requested by a THON family.

Lenina Crowne most recently played at THON in 2015. Simply put, the band’s return (although virtual) was a pleasant surprise for viewers and certainly lifted some spirits early Sunday morning.
