Recreating THON 2021 From Club Penguin

We found that this weekend, with a virtual THON and a lot of time on your hands, the possibilities are truly endless.

Cue the decision to recreate THON 2021 from Club Penguin Rewritten. Although the original site closed down in 2017, an exact replica has been made and every feature on it, thank goodness, is free to the public (read: No more having to ask your mom for a membership as I’m sure we all did in our younger years).

Our staffers decided to take a swing at engaging the Club Penguin community in a virtual THON and attempted to recreate everything we’re sorely missing from an in-person THON. Keep scrolling to check out what we managed to come up with.

The first step was to recruit some folks to come join us at our igloo. Not going to lie, a lot of folks had absolutely no idea what we were talking about and they seemed to just be igloo hopping. But have no fear, our igloo was ready to blast off just like the BJC no matter if we had a packed house, or, well… what we ended up having — which was only four attendees.

A BJC THON replica wouldn’t be complete without three things: the concourse, a dance floor, and press row. Lucky for us, we found a way to make all three of those things happen in our THON.

The food and THON gear stands in the BJC never get old. Our special THON concourse setup had one-of-a-kind pawprints on the floor for some unique decorations. And hell yes, that’s a full-blown pizza oven. Goodbye pizza cones, hello fresh oven-brick pizza.

You truly haven’t experienced THON in the BJC until you’ve had a chicken basket for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lucky for these folks penguins, the Club Penguin THON is no different.

It’s not too late if you’re actually in State College and want to try to snag a chicken basket, as they’re still on sale until 1 p.m. on Sunday.

One of the best views in the house THON weekend is from press row. Folks who are familiar with the setup know all too well how the sometimes stressful, definitely chaotic, and always fun setup truly makes the weekend one to remember.

Our Club Penguin press row setup was a bit bare this weekend. Let’s just say, our penguins were following all social distancing guidelines so we only had one penguin on per shift. Poor guy.

Our penguins could waddle circles around the this year’s THON. Our virtual stage was all set up for donations, streaming, and most importantly… the line dance. The Nittany Lion even made a guest appearance if you look close enough.

Our penguins took the phrase ‘Happy Feet’ to a whole new level this weekend. The igloo transformed-BJC replica was a raving success for all four folks who stopped by. Let this serve as a reminder that you truly can THON from anywhere, and yes, that means even from a Club Penguin igloo in the middle of the night.
