Three Penn State Hoops Standouts Earn Big Ten Postseason Honors

Three Penn State men’s basketball stars are being recognized for their impressive regular season performances.

John Harrar, Myreon Jones, and Jamari Wheeler earned All-Big Ten honors Tuesday. The first two of the trio, Harrar and Jones, were All-Big Ten Honorable Mentions by the media.

Harrar put together a dominant senior season as Penn State’s premier big man. The King of Delco wrapped up the regular season averaging nine points per game and 8.5 rebounds, as he put up five total double-doubles on the year.

Jones had an impressive year as Penn State’s top scorer. He led the group with 15.5 points per game and shot a solid 39.3% from deep. The junior had at least 20 points in six games this year, including a massive 29-point output in a win over Nebraska.

While Jones and Harrar were recognized for their overall performances, Wheeler was named to the conference’s All-Defensive team. The point guard out of Florida has been recognized for his stout defense throughout his Penn State career, and that didn’t change during his senior campaign.

Wheeler led the Nittany Lions with 1.8 steals per game, and put up four steals in three games this season. Along with his dominant defensive play, the point guard led the team with 3.8 assists per game and worked the three-point ball in to his game. Wheeler hit 25 from deep this year with a shooting percentage of 35.2%.

These standouts and the rest of the Nittany Lions will try to keep their season going Wednesday night against Nebraska in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. That game will tip off at 9 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium and be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
