Penn State men’s basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry has officially made the first addition to his coaching staff.

The Nittany Lions hired former Miami assistant coach and Penn State alumnus Adam Fisher as associate head coach Monday afternoon.

Fisher graduated from Penn State back in 2006 after working for three seasons as a student manager for the hoops program and one season as a graduate manager. From there, he worked as a graduate manager under legendary Villanova head coach Jay Wright from 2007 to 2009.

The Nittany Lion continued to work his way up the coaching latter by spending some time at Boston University as the director of basketball operations for two seasons. Fisher worked alongside eventual Penn State head coach Pat Chambers in Boston. He then came with Chambers back to Happy Valley to work as a director of player development.

After his second tenure at Penn State, the Jamison, Pennsylvania native went down to Miami and spent eight seasons with the Hurricanes, six of which as an assistant coach.

Miami made several postseason appearances during Fisher’s time in Coral Gables, including a run to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 in 2016. Fisher also helped bring in top-15 recruiting classes in 2017 and 2018 for the Hurricanes. He coached current NBA players such as Lonnie Walker IV, Bruce Brown Jr., and Dewan Hernandez.

This is Shrewsberry’s first officially addition to his coaching staff. This past weekend, the newly hired head coach spent time touring his new campus and facilities.
