Penn State Women’s Volleyball-Nebraska Series Mutually Canceled
No. 11 Penn State women’s volleyball’s regular season has come to an anticlimactic end.
The Nittany Lions’ scheduled series against Nebraska has been mutually canceled “out of an abundance of caution” surrounding the teams’ health, including COVID-19 concerns. The series would’ve brought Penn State on the road to face the No. 4 Cornhuskers on Thursday, April 1, and Friday, April 2.
Just like last weekend’s canceled series with Wisconsin, this series won’t be rescheduled, either.
Although Penn State hasn’t confirmed it, Wisconsin alleged the cancellation stemmed from COVID-19 cases within the Nittany Lions’ program. It’s unclear if the reported outbreak also led to Tuesday’s cancellation.
Moving forward, Penn State will rest up, attempt to get healthy, and prepare for the NCAA Tournament. The Nittany Lions’ final 9-5 record should be enough to punch yet another ticket to the 48-team postseason tournament.
The Division I Women’s Volleyball Selection Show will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, on ESPNU. To date, Penn State has appeared in every NCAA Tournament and won seven national titles.
