Gardner-Webb Transfer Guard Jaheam Cornwall Commits To Penn State Hoops

Micah Shrewsberry has picked up his first commit through the NCAA transfer portal, folks.

Former Gardner-Webb guard Jaheam Cornwall announced via Instagram Friday morning that he is “110% committed” to Penn State men’s basketball.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game that I love,” Cornwall said on Instagram. “After reviewing my options, I have decided to use my final year of eligibility at Penn State! We are!”

Cornwall played four seasons for the Runnin’ Bulldogs and became known for his elite three-point shooting ability. For his career at Gardner-Webb, the guard shot 42% from downtown on 4.5 three-point shots per game. During his first year with the team, he averaged 7.7 points per game and shot 44% from three-point range, which earned him All-Big South Freshman Team honors.

After primarily coming off the bench during his first two seasons, Cornwall started 57 of his 58 games played over his final two seasons. His best season was the most recent, as he averaged 14.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 41% from three en route to being named first-team All-Big South for the first time in his career.

Cornwall’s commitment comes just a day after Izaiah Brockington announced his is reentering the transfer portal and will finish his basketball career elsewhere. However, Cornwall will join the likes of Seth Lundy and John Harrar, both of whom decided to stay with the program after testing the waters in the transfer portal.
