[Live Blog] Penn State Football’s April 23 Beaver Stadium Practice

For the second straight week, Penn State football will practice in front of fans in Beaver Stadium, folks.

The Nittany Lions are enjoying a revised edition of the annual Blue-White Game Friday night. While it will be more of a practice than anything else, Penn State opened the practice up to the general public Wednesday. The event was originally created for just seniors currently taking in-person classes.

The game won’t be televised, but Onward State will have you covered on every piece of the action this afternoon. Follow us here and on Twitter @OnwardState and @OnwardStSports for updates, photos, videos, and more from Saturday’s spring practice.

8:48 p.m. — Thanks for following along, folks!

8:45 p.m. — Mason Stahl! The quarterback stepped up in the pocket to complete an impressive touchdown pass while Grant Haley’s scoop-and-score played on the video board in the background.

8:41 p.m. — Welcome home, Micah! Big week coming up for the Penn State legend.

8:40 p.m. — That was a quick change of mood.

8:37 p.m. —Here’s the last offensive series. Mason Stahl is in at quarterback along with Tank Smith and some other second and third-team studs.

8:30 p.m. — So good! So good! So good!

8:28 p.m. — There’s Lovett with a crafty touchdown from a few yards out. He’s been quick and hard to tackle tonight.

8:22 p.m. — A heck of a drive from Keyvone Lee results in a touchdown for the freshman. He showcased his pass-catching and hard-nose running abilities in a smooth string of plays.

8:17 p.m. — Jordan Stout: great at kicking field goals. His 47-yarder is pure.

8:13 p.m. — We miss this. A lot.

8:08 p.m. — How’s that for a Happy Valley welcome, Giovanni?

8:05 p.m. — Shippensburg transfer Winston Eubanks just made an absolutely disgusting catch to bring Penn State to the goal line. Roberson lined up under center and snuck it in on the next play.

8:00 p.m. — Tank Smith is all over the field.

7:57 p.m. — Oh wow! Sean Clifford lined up under center for a play-action pass and ran it in himself for a touchdown. Pinch yourself!

7:54 p.m. — John Harrar is in the house! He’ll be using his final year of NCAA eligibility with Penn State basketball next season.

7:45 p.m. — Linebacker Curtis Jacobs and transfer running back John Lovett made their presence known on that drive. Jacobs had an impressive tackle-for-loss and Lovett showcased some speed. Cornerback Marquis Wilson is back to return the punt after getting some reps at wide receiver last week.

7:39 p.m. — Ta’Quan Roberson takes the field at quarterback but can’t find the same success. They punt away to Jahan Dotson, who muffs and quickly recovers the kick.

7:34 p.m. — Jahan. Dotson. Are you kidding me? He takes a short pass from Sean Clifford 64 yards allllll the way to the house for the first score of the game. Three pass plays for 75 yards in a score is pretty darn efficient.

7:30 p.m. — The team is out of the tunnel at practice is underway!

7:27 p.m. — ARE. YOU. READY. FOR. PENN. STATE. FOOTBALL!?!?

7:24 p.m. — When I say Penn, you say State! The crowd is going through the typical Beaver Stadium chants here. Nature is healing. Oh, and don’t forget about a quick performance from the Lionettes.

7:21 p.m. CEO of the Penn State Alumni Association Paul Clifford is here as well! “Welcome to the world’s largest alumni association,” he told the seniors in the crowd.

7:18 p.m. The team ran back into the tunnel after some 7-on-7 drills, supposedly planning for a big entrance back out for practice. Sean Clifford and Ta’Quan Roberson don’t look particularly sharp, but Devyn Ford showcased some sideline speed.

7:13 p.m. We’ve got some more special guests in the house tonight, folks. KJ Hamler is here along with Philly sports superfan Giovanni Hamilton, who recently became best friends with James Franklin.

7:07 p.m. So far we’ve seen a lot of individual drills at practice. Goal line situations and special teams have been the name of the game.

6:44 p.m. It might be time to get used to this…

6:35 p.m. Jesse Luketa and Noah Cain are both dressed and warming up after not participating in last week’s practice. Cain missed the entire 2020 season with an injury sustained against Indiana. Luketa, however, does have his helmet in his hand as his teammates are going through drills.

6:20 p.m. The iconic blue busses have pulled up to Beaver Stadium and the team is coming in through the gates. It’s almost time for some Friday night football, folks.
