Tussey Mountain’s annual WingFest is back for the summer beginning Thursday, July 1, with a live performance from local band Velveeta.

For seven consecutive Thursdays all the way through August 12, vendors, live music, and wings of all flavors and sizes will draw crowds to the slopes of Tussey Mountain.

Wings will be served from Gigi’s Southern Table, Federal Taphouse, The Wilderness Lodge, and Wings Over Happy Valley, among others. Other food options are on the menu, too.

Admission is cash-only and $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 7 to 16, and free for children below 7. Gates will be open beginning 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m., and parking is free.

The lineup for this year’s WingFest includes:

• July 8 — Completely Unchained (a tribute to Van Halen) & Quarterstick
• July 15 — Pure Cane Sugar & Ted and the Hi-Fi’s

• July 29 — Bonfire (a tribute to AC/DC) & MISS Melanie
• August 5 — The Ten Band (a tribute to Pearl Jam) & Obvious Pocket
• August 12 — My Hero Zero & Kristi Jean and her Ne’er-Do-Wells

For 20 years, thousands of people have flocked to the slopes every Thursday of the summer. However, last year’s celebration was canceled due to COVID-19.

In addition to nearly 30 local restaurants and 14 bands performing each season, WingFest serves as the ultimate wing competition. While Onward State definitively ranked State College wings this winter, vendors still have the chance of being crowned the 2021 Tussey Mountain Wing King.

Each guest receives one ticket which can be used to select your favorite wing vendor of the night. Voting ends at 9 p.m. and the winner will be announced by 9:30 p.m. The six winners of the summer will compete to have the chance of being named Wing King.

Guests must pay cash to purchase $1 amphitheater tickets that can be used for wings, drinks, and other items. Tickets from previous years are still valid and never expire.
