The Best Of Penn State Petfinder

Petfinder is perfect for helping folks find the right pet to adopt. The website lists hundreds of thousands of animals, so it’s no surprise that some of them have some pretty funky names. There are ducks named after celebrities, snakes with multiple middle names, and, naturally, many animals named after iconic Penn State bars, restaurants, and traditions.

After hours of combing through the many cats, dogs, gerbils, and even pigeons on Petfinder, we compiled our favorite pets with Penn State-related names. Who knows, you might just find a new furry friend.

This guy just looks like a great time. He’s vibing in his baby pool just like the Willard Preacher vibes in front of the Willard Building. Just get this fella in a red hoodie and he’s all good to go!

Pickles looks a little bit questionable, but I’m sure she’s very lovable once you get to know her. Maybe she just needs a beer — from Bill Pickle’s Tap Room, of course.

With this lad, you’ll get to reminisce about your favorite White Out memories every time you say his name! Whether he’s eating your shoe or shitting on your carpet, you’ll never stay mad at a dog named after one of Penn State’s greatest traditions.

This is a good boy if I ever saw one — just look at that smile! With a name like Beaver, the possibilities are endless. Beaver Stadium? Beaver Hall? Beaver Avenue? This dog is just so darn versatile.

If I’m being honest, I am a little bit scared of Canyon. I know he’s just a kitten, but I feel like he could do some serious damage to my face if I got on his bad side. I’ve definitely seen some people in the Canyon Pizza line who channel this same level of lunatic.

These gerbils look like something you may find crawling around the first floor of the Meridian apartments. Perhaps that’s how they got their name.

Just look at that sweet pile of pups! Heck, why not get the whole litter? If you wanna go all out, you could even name each puppy after a different Pollock dorm.

Not many people know this, but Eric Barron actually used to go by “Big Boy” in high school. He dropped the nickname when he became Penn State’s president, but close family and friends still call him this as a term of endearment. Try it next time you see him walking around campus!
