Beaver Stadium Gets Another American Flag Turf Makeover

Penn State football rang in Independence Day by giving Beaver Stadium another patriotic makeover.

This time, Beaver Stadium’s grounds crew showed off its creativity by mowing an American flag into the turf.

The tradition dates back to at least July 2018, when Beaver Stadium’s turf received a nearly identical makeover. Penn State’s got one of the top turfgrass science programs in the nation, so we can’t be too surprised to see such a sharp display on the Fourth of July.

Penn State’s season won’t roll around until September. But thanks to a fan-less season without many events in the stadium last year, Beaver Stadium should be in pristine condition to rock and roll once football returns.

The Nittany Lions’ season will begin at noon on Saturday, September 4, when they face Wisconsin on the road. Beaver Stadium’s first chance to host will come when Ball State travels to Happy Valley on September 11.
