Pittsburgh Pirates To Host Annual THON Game, Penn State Night July 31

The Pittsburgh Pirates will host a special event next week to celebrate Penn State and benefit THON’s upcoming fundraising campaign.

The team will host a “Penn State Night” on Saturday, July 31, when the Pirates host the Philadelphia Phillies at PNC Park. $5 from each ticket sold will benefit THON.

Additionally, Penn State men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry will host a meet-and-greet and even throw out the first pitch. The ticket offer also includes access to a special pregame tailgate located in Picnic Park located just off the Riverwalk.

The upcoming Pirates event will be the first professional sports THON fundraiser in quite some time, dating back to the pre-pandemic days. Luckily, Penn State fans from Pittsburgh and “just outside of Philly” should find plenty of reasons to head to the stadium for some cross-state baseball action.

First pitch for the game is set for 7:05 p.m. You can find more information about the fundraiser online.
